In this interview, she shares her journey as a stylist, her go-to techniques, and what Black hair means to her.

What inspired you to join the beauty industry?

“I was inspired to join the beauty industry to empower women to feel truly beautiful in their own skin and to help them build the confidence needed to conquer a world that often feels like it wasn’t designed for us to thrive—especially for women of color. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where my clients feel seen, heard and valued. Whether it’s celebrating life’s wins or letting off some steam, I want my chair to be a place where they can leave it all on the salon floor—walking out not just radiant on the outside, but lighter and more uplifted on the inside.”

What are your top 3 must-have clean beauty products in the salon?

“My top 3 must-have clean beauty products in the salon are Oway’s Glossy Nectar, Flux Potion and Moisturizing Hair Mask.”

What are your favorite techniques?

“My favorite techniques are babylights, silk presses and weft extensions.”

What changes would you like to see in the beauty industry to better support Black hair stylists and clients?

“It should be mandatory for schools and apprenticeships to be more inclusive and teach the entire spectrum of hair types and textures so that it’s not so hard for clients of color to find someone knowledgeable to help them achieve their hair dreams. I also think salons, beauty brands and industry organizations should promote hiring practices that seek out diversity in their leadership so that we don’t continue to be left out of the conversation.”

What is your advice for aspiring stylists?

“My advice to aspiring stylists is to avoid niching down before you master the basics first , prioritize your client experience because it will keep them coming back when all else fails, and create a vision for your career. The beauty industry offers unlimited opportunity and this career is exactly what you make it.”
