Texture Trends 2013

2013 is the year to embrace natural or artificial texture.  Many of the runways this spring were rampant with crazy texture like Marc by Marc Jacobs whose spring collection was inspired by the 70s.  Frizzy, fluffy out-to-there texture that is bouncy but not curly was what Guido, who styled the hair for the show was after.

At Badgley Mischka, Peter Gray also used texture but this time inspired by Studio 54 with curls of different sizes on one head and clips to smooth the hair on top that was deeply parted to the side.

A few of the designers chose to get straight to the point with the opposite texture creating slicked back hair evocative of a woman on a tropical vacation according to Odile who did the hair for Erin Fetherson.  The texture play is between a wet and a dry look in the same style.  Eugene Souleiman chose a clean, classic, straight look for Narciso Rodriguez’ models. Each model had pretty much identical hair with a deep side part and perfectly straight hair pinned on one side behind the ear.
